RICK STALY, SHERIFF

"An Honor to Serve, A Duty to Protect"

Sheriff’s Citizens Academy

REGISTER FOR THE SPRING 2025 SESSION!

The Sheriff's Citizens Academy provides participants an inside look at the Sheriff’s Office. Citizens receive an overview of the agency, visit the agency’s communications center and detention facilities, learn about District Policing, the Investigative Services Division, drug enforcement, Victim Services, SWAT, Motor Unit demonstrations, ride alongs with deputies, and a K-9 demonstration. Attendees will also participate in an actual shoot/don’t shoot decision-making process through the use of a simulator.

Academy classes are taught by members of the Sheriff's Office command staff as well as civilian personnel. Participants have the opportunity to meet with the Sheriff and staff members. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and actively participate. Our goal through the Sheriff’s Citizens Academy is to provide a greater awareness of the multi-faceted aspects of the Sheriff’s Office and our role in the community through education.
