BUNNELL, Fla. — The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted a joint county-wide operation with the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco to ensure compliance with underage smoking regulations. The operation confirmed that most area smoke shops were not selling tobacco, nicotine, or hemp products to minors.

During the operation, the FCSO Problem Area Crime Enforcement Unit and Criminal Intelligence Unit assisted Florida ABT with checking 14 smoke shops in Flagler County. As a result, an employee at R.A. Royal Smokers in Bunnell received a notice to appear from ABT for the sale of a nicotine product or device to a person under 21 years of age.

“Too many young children are becoming addicted to easy to acquire nicotine vaping devices,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Multi-agency undercover operations, like this, protect children from the harmful effects of tobacco and hemp and will continue with our partners.”

The 13 other businesses checked during the operation were in compliance.###
