Giovanni Curtis, 22, of Palm Coast, who was arrested in Texas by the El Paso Police Department in November 2025 on a Flagler County fugitive warrant following a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office investigation into child sex crimes, has been sentenced after pleading guilty to two counts of child abuse.

On June 24, Circuit Judge Howard Maltz withheld adjudication and sentenced Curtis to 10 years’ probation as part of a plea agreement. As a condition of his release, Curtis is required to submit to sex-offender conditions, which prohibits unsupervised contact with minors, alcohol consumption, and drug use and limits internet usage during his probation period.

“While we do not believe the outcome of this case is fitting for his heinous acts, we support the victims’ wishes in this case and pray they may find comfort and healing now that the legal proceedings are behind them,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Not going to trial saves the victim from being traumatized again, which is critical for the health, well-being and future of the victim.”

Curtis was released from the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility following his sentencing.
