The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting stemming from a road rage incident that occurred on the night of May 26 in the drive-thru area of a McDonald’s in Palm Coast.

At approximately 10:20 p.m., deputies responded to McDonald’s at 4851 Belle Terre Parkway following multiple 911 calls reporting a reckless driver, road rage incident, and multiple shots fired. Deputies arrived on scene and located multiple individuals, including a 50-year-old man from Palm Coast, who detectives determined fired the shots, and a 61-year-old man from Daytona North with a facial injury and multiple gunshot wounds.

Palm Coast Fire Department and Flagler County Fire Rescue paramedics treated the injured man for his wounds on scene, and he was then transported by air ambulance to Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach, where he is in stable condition. The shooter was also transported to a facility for evaluation and treatment.

The FCSO Major Case and Crime Scene Investigation units also responded to investigate the incident. During the investigation, deputies and detectives interviewed multiple witnesses.

The initial investigation has revealed that the shooting occurred in the McDonald’s drive-thru following a separate road rage incident that began between the shooter and other individuals nearby on Belle Terre Parkway and escalated in the McDonald’s parking lot. The other individuals involved in the road rage incident were not directly involved in the shooting. Detectives are continuing the investigation to determine the relationship, if any, between all individuals involved.

“Our deputies, detectives, and crime scene investigators worked throughout the night and are still working diligently to investigate the circumstances surrounding this case,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “We have identified all persons involved, and there is no threat to the community. I remind all drivers that it is much better to call law enforcement and let us investigate than to engage in a road rage incident.”

The investigation is still active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency line at 386-313-4911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).
