BUNNELL, Fla. — After a monthlong investigation, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit has apprehended a fugitive wanted for felony domestic battery.

The fugitive, Diana Reid, 49, of Bunnell, had been wanted since March 9 following a domestic disturbance that occurred the day before. During the disturbance, Reid struck the victim with a broom and threw multiple items, including kitchen plates, mustard, and a watermelon.

After the victim called the Flagler County Emergency Communications Center, Reid fled the residence before deputies arrived. Deputies contacted Reid, who advised she was on probation and asked where she could leave her vehicle in anticipation of being arrested. However, after speaking to deputies, Reid did not return to the residence and instead went into hiding.

Through investigative means, Fugitive Unit deputies determined Reid had traveled to various parts of the state but was believed to be back in Flagler County and hiding in the Bunnell area. Deputies identified a residence on Quarter Horse Lane they believed Reid to be hiding in.

On April 8, the Fugitive Unit, Problem Area Crime Enforcement Unit, and K-9 Unit responded to the Quarter Horse Lane residence. There, they located Reid and apprehended her without incident.

Deputies arrested Reid on her active warrant for felony domestic battery with prior conviction, as well as violation of probation. She was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where she is being held without bond.

“Given how frequently this fugitive moved around the state, she was 100% trying to evade capture. Unfortunately for her, she made the mistake of coming back and trying to lay low in Flagler County, which she learned that doesn’t work,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “While her choice of weapons is peculiar, it does not diminish the severity of her violent tendencies, as she has been arrested for this before. I commend our Fugitive Unit for bringing her to justice and hope she takes the anger management courses offered at the Green Roof Inn.”

Reid has an extensive criminal history with over 18 arrests for charges including fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, battery, and domestic battery.  ###
